About

Hello there! My name is Casper Alexis, and I'm a mid-twenties swede working on various kinds of software as well as my passion indie game project Project Barkeep.

I work as a backend developer as my daytime job (mostly InRiver but also Optimizely (previously called Episerver)), I've also started to delve into more frontend related stuff (mostly React-based) with a goal of becoming a Fullstack developer (although I think I'll be primarily a backend developer still).

I'm a believer of the following:

  • You should always strive to learn new things
  • Necessity is the mother of all inventions
  • Don't forget to have fun doing it
  • Progress is progress, no matter how fast or "slow" - I always strive to have done at least something on my current project, no matter how small.

I initially created this blog as a way for me to write about my software/game projects as well as the occasional guide (that I mostly write for myself so I can backtrack whatever I did, but hopefully others find them useful as well). But more recently I've been looking to add to the repertoire with post-mortems on projects that didn't end up working out, financial independence related stuff, as well some "what's going on in my life" for the bigger things happening in my life that I wanna highlight.

I want to emphasize a special importance on the financial independence material that I'll be writing about in the future, since I believe this will be a source of inspiration for those thinking about ways to be able to pursue ones creative desires without necessarily monetizing it (or at least having to rely on the monetization of the creative outlet in order to live comfortably). Instead having a pile of money that works for you on such a level that it could sustain your lifestyle, so you can pursue the creative dreams that you've wanted to do for years.
